On this day you will ride in the middle of Serra do Caldeirão, and you'll easily feel that. With the accented cumulative elevation gain and loss, this is one of the most demanding days in physical and technical terms, in both directions.
Your physical condition will be put to the test. If you are not properly prepared for this degree of difficulty, you should divide this route according to your physical preparation.
The long climb to Parises is one of the toughest, and calls for a stop arriving to the village, in one of the cafes, to regain energy. Don't forget to pack some energy bars and plenty of water to keep hydrated.
If you start the route in the opposite direction to the recommended, you will have an extensive climb that is also worth mentioning, almost upon Barranco do Velho.
Despite the demand, enjoy the journey, stop at the viewpoints to catch your breath and enjoy the panoramic views.
The route is fully signposted, but it is advisable to use GPS and download the tracks we provide in the GR13 - Via Algarviana stages for MTB.
Attention: All the information is presented in the recommended direction, from Alcoutim to Cabo de São Vicente. If you decide to travel in the opposite direction, don't forget that you have to reverse the line with the cumulative elevation gain and loss values. The level of difficulty of the sectors can vary depending on the direction in which you make them.
