Starting off facing the old Town Hall; take the road on your left towards Avenida dos Descobrimentos, and then left again, towards the Municipal Market.
Keep walking until you reach the Lagos Living Science Centre, then turn right. Go around St. Sebastião Church and turn right. Passing the church door, take the narrow street on the left.
Go down the cobbled street and turn right, following Rua do Caracol until you reach the opening in the walls. Go around St. Francisco’s Bastion and then left, until you reach Point 1 at St. Amaro’s Bastion.
Go past the car park all the way to St. Nicolau’s Bastion, go around it and then left, following the city walls. When you reach Nossa Senhora da Conceição’s Bastion, go down the stairs on the right.
When you reach the Porta da Praça D’Armas archway, cross the road, veer right and go up the stairs to your left. Keep on straight ahead and go up more stairs to the left, until you reach Point 2.
At St. António’s Bastion, go down the stairs on the left and follow the city walls until you reach Point 3. At the crossroads, turn left and you will see the Porta da Vila Bastion. Next, turn right and go around the Porta da Vila multipurpose sports courts. Turn right, past the Humanitarian Association of Lagos Volunteer Firefighters, and you’ll reach the main road. Cross the road at the crossing and go down the street directly ahead of you, to Point 4.
Turn right at the end, past the Esperança de Lagos football pitch, and then turn left towards Dona Ana Beach. Go past the hotel pool and then down the stairs to your left, to Point 5.
Follow the path with the beach to your right and keep going along the dirt track. Take the natural stairs and then turn left towards Pinhão Beach, keeping on along the pavement, with its decorative crazy paving, until you reach the statue of St Gonçalo.
Turn right and go down the stairs, then keep going straight on. Once you’ve gone past Ponta da Bandeira Fortress, cross the road and head towards the Porta de S. Gonçalo archway, through the garden called “Jardim da Constituição” and Infante D. Henrique Square.
Follow the road to the right of the Church of St. Maria and turn right, towards the Municipal Museum. Go down Rua Silva Lopes and Rua 25 de Abril, then turn right at Travessa da Senhora da Graça, reaching Point 6. At the end of the road, turn left onto Rua da Barroca, and you’ll find you’re back at the start of the route.
